Pulpotomy of a baby tooth is a procedure in which the inflamed coronal pulp is removed while the radicular pulp is preserved. This allows the tooth to remain functional until natural shedding.
Indications include deep caries with pulp involvement, pulpitis or accidental pulp exposure. At iDenta the procedure is performed under anaesthesia with a child-specific agent. The radicular pulp is then covered with calcium hydroxide or MTA paste and the tooth is restored with a crown or filling.
