Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is a special filling material for baby teeth that gradually releases fluoride ions, strengthening the surrounding enamel and reducing the risk of secondary caries.
GIC bonds chemically to tooth tissues, so it often requires no acid etching and no drilling. This makes the procedure less stressful for young patients. The filling sets without a curing light.
