Periostitis incision (flux drainage) is a surgical procedure to open an abscess above the jaw periosteum. It evacuates pus, relieves pressure and initiates tissue healing.
The procedure is urgent — periostitis must not be delayed. Performed under local anaesthesia in 15–20 minutes. A drain is placed after incision to allow exudate drainage.
