A fibre post is a glass fibre construction placed into the root canal to reinforce the tooth before build-up or crown placement. Unlike a metal post, it creates no dark halo under the crown.
The post has an elastic modulus close to dentine — reducing the risk of root fracture. It is cemented with a chemical-adhesive cement. The procedure takes 30–40 minutes.
