Temporary canal dressing involves placing a medicament in the cleaned root canals between endodontic appointments. Calcium hydroxide is most commonly used — it creates an alkaline environment, suppresses bacteria and promotes periapical tissue regeneration.
The interval between visits is usually 2–4 weeks. The temporary material is then removed, canals are re-irrigated and filled with permanent material. At iDenta temporary dressing is used for chronic periapical lesions and severe inflammation.
